Cafepress Review and Giveaway

Cafepress has to be my FAVORITE online store hands down. I love how you have so many personalized options to make the perfect unique gift every time. One of my favorite things to do is just browse through the various t-shirt designs and some are so funny, while of course some are eh not so funny lol. Now imagine my surprise when Cafepress contacted me to see about hosting a giveaway AND a review for not only me but Owen as well. I was so excited and knew exactly what I was wanting.

Ever since I lost my grandma in 2008, I’ve been eyeballing this design and debating what kind of shirt I wanted. So I knew this was the perfect shirt to pick. I chose the shirt Grandma Angel Jr Tank Top and yes I couldn’t get the photo out with any tears. I really love this shirt and when I’m having my moment of sadness this really is one of the few comforting objects I have.


I ordered this shirt in a Medium and I have to say it’s true to size and fits snug, like Cafepress I would suggest ordering the next size up if your worried about sizes. This shirt is made from

• 6.1 oz 1×1 ribbed combed ring spun cotton
• Side seamed contoured body
• Standard fit

 One thing that I do love is that it does conceal my bra well and that’s something most tank tops do NOT do lol. Nothing worse than having your bra showing.


Next up was Owen’s pick. Now before I show you his shirt I have to tell you the back story. Last year his pre-k class had a class election around the time the real election was going on. I mean they got ‘voter’ cards, stickers saying they voted today and even filled out a ‘ballot’ with their choice. The choices were Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Elmo, and Hello Kitty (I believe). After school I asked him who he voted for. He was ever so proud to say “Mama I voted for Omama.” I was perplexed because we’re not a political family (yes I know but hey I don’t complain about anything so no judging lol) and I was quite shocked. His teacher said they were discussing the real candidates and that lead me to believe he was just picking a name he liked but ever since if you ask him Omama is his best friend. So when we were looking for shirts that is how we landed on this one.

Owen’s shirt Obama Presidential Seal Kids Light T’s and I may be biased but it looks adorable on him. He LOVES it. I think he wore it for a week straight before I could pry it off of him. I didn’t realize how quick that boy was until I tried to get the shirt to the laundry basket before he got out of the tub lol. Of course when I asked him for a photo these were the shots I received lol. Now I realize that his is big on him but with his Obama love I wanted to get something that was big enough that it fit him now but he still had some room to grow into it and decided on the KM. I love how soft the shirt is and it’s easily became one of Owen’s favorite shirts. Like I said he tells everyone that’s his best friend lol. He is so excited that he finally has an Obama shirt that he loves (We’ve been looking for one he adored since last year) and in the end that’s what matters the most lol.

Hot Locks Review/Giveaway

As anyone that is around little girls knows that one thing they LOVE to do is play beauty shop. I can’t tell you how many times I remember sitting with my grandma and just doing her hair in what I thought was the coolest style around, when in fact I was probably making the worlds biggest knots in her hair. But you know she never complained at all about it and I loved doing it. I was reminded of how much fun I had doing this with my grandma a couple weeks ago when my niece was playing with her mother’s hair like that. It took me back to that special memory that made me wish I had a photograph of. Then I heard about Hot Locks dolls and thought they were just the neatest thing. I can’t tell you how excited my niece was when we got her in the mail (No photos due to it’s not my child so I don’t want to put her on here and I forgot to get photos of her playing with it due to well I got excited to play with something non action figures lol) We had a blast curling her hair and putting it in braids. I love that this is something that moms, grandmas, aunts, cousins anyone can play together with and have fun with the child. Another fun thing that came with the dolls was the HAIR EXTENSION … yup that’s right you get a hair extension clippy just for you …. okay okay for your child … to wear so you can have way cool hair like your doll.  I think I loved the hair extension more than anything lol!

Rainbow Brite Giveaway!

Growing up I was a BIG Rainbow Brite fan. I loved everything about her and her friends. I was convinced I would own a horse, Starlight, one day. I think I loved Spritzie Sprite the best. Those little guys were all adorable and I wanted them running around my house ha! I was even trying to dress up as Rainbow Brite for the last adult Halloween party we went to, but Jeff couldn’t (or i.e wouldn’t) find something to go with me lol. I think I would’ve made a cute Rainbow Brite lol.

When I seen that she was making a comeback I was excited. I loved her new makeover (hey it’s been 25 years, we’re all entitled to a makeover right) and hoped you readers would love it as well. While I didn’t get to pick who I received, the awesome mailman brought Rainbow Brite’s friend Moonglow! I just love her and since Owen screamed when I asked if he’d like to play with her, she must not be cool enough to hang with his wrestlers. So the perfect person would be my 5 year old niece. Aunt Brandy suddenly became pretty interesting because as soon as I walked upstairs and showed her she was so excited. She kept saying how pretty her hair was, and I have to agree, her hair is pretty sweet. Moonglow has very well liked in the ‘community’ as well because I saw her riding in Hannah Montana’s tour bus/van thingy just the other day!

Moonglow comes complete with remove cuffs and some pretty sweet boots and if you really must have her, you can purchase her horse as an accessory (and what little girl wouldn’t want a cool horse lol). Eye Buy Direct Giveaway

Needing new glasses can put a big dent in your wallet, something I knew all too well when I went to my eye doctor appointment last month and found out I had a small need for BIFOCALS … yes I wasn’t too happy to find out at 24 years-old I needed a small (like only one eye lol) need for bifocals … but what can you do right? So I sucked it up and after looking at the amazing designs offered at Eye Buy Direct. They offer affordable and cute designs for any of your glasses needs.

Of course my favorite thing had to be looking all around the site at the different frames they offered. It was hard to pick a frame and I think I drove my husband insane showing him the different pairs that I liked. Though there was one pair that I kept going back to and it was the these adorable Black/Green/Clear frames and I LOVE them. They are very comfortable and I didn’t have any trouble with the frames rubbing against my ears/nose as my previous frames did.

Also I love how light weight they felt on my face. I was a little worried about the black/green combo and how it might not always look right with what I’m wearing, but I’ve yet to have a problem with that and I really liked that my glasses arrived in a clear plastic case that shuts securly with two little magnets. The glasses were even wrapped in a cute clouds cleaning cloth.

I have never bought eye glasses online before but I can honestly tell you that I will be buying any other frames I may need (and since I’m always misplacing something AND the mother of a 5-year-old, I’m sure I’ll need another pair sometime lol) I will definitely be buying them from Eye Buy Direct again. In fact I am hoping to pick up a pair of prescription sunglasses in a few months when it starts getting warmer out.

I am not that big of a make up user, but my weakness is a great mascara and eyeliner. I never leave home without them on that’s for sure. If there is ONE thing I dislike is when my back or crack is showing EVERY time I’m bending over to do something. Being the mother of an active 5 year old I’m doing that quite often lol! Also, I hated finding a cute top only to have my boobs just trying to show off to the world. It was always my luck that those shirts wouldn’t fit right if I was wearing a tank top under it and really that only made the problem worse lol. But adding the undershirt really makes a difference because it’s the right texture and doesn’t add any extra weight to what you’re wearing. I was given the black lace to review and I really liked it. I admit it was a bit odd at first but that was, as stated, the very first time I had even tried one on. The oddness of it lasted briefly and was easily able to forget it was even on by the time the day was done. These can be washed along with your clothes and tumble dry or even hang to dry, so these don’t even require any extra maintenance and who doesn’t love that right? Plus they are affordable too. A solid color shirt sells for $15.00 and a lacy/patterned shirt sells for $20.00. Santa’s Secrets: Giant Fortune Cookie Giveaway

Now if you had to ask me what my favorite kind of food would be, I’d have to say Chinese food. I love it, though my favorite part is always the fortune cookie. My husband isn’t that big of a fan, he always says the cookies just taste so plain. Well that sure changed his mind when I received a Giant Fortune Cookie in the mail. I knew it was going to be a huge cookie but let me tell you that I was shocked at how big it actually was lol!

I was given the Gingerbread Fortune Cookie to review and let me tell you that I am not a huge gingerbread lover but this cookie was SO yummy! Now before I get in to that I have to tell you how adorable this thing is when you get it in the mail. First it shows up in this white box and when you open up the box there is this beautiful giant cookie sitting on top of this colored crinkle paper. The cookie was wrapped in French-style Cellophane and tied with a bow. The best part about this beautiful presentation is that if you’re giving them as gifts they do all the work for you! Now they looked so pretty I almost didn’t want to eat it…. almost lol.

I could describe for you how this cookie tasted but I have to share with you the great description on their website since it was way to fun:

This gourmet holiday idea breaks the mold. To create this special giant fortune cookie treat we took gingerbread men, broke them into pieces and created the first giant gingerbread fortune cookies, covered with chunks of gingerbread crumble and white chocolate.

How fun does this make them sound? As I said, I am not a huge gingerbread lover but I AM a white chocolate lover and let me tell you this combination is just amazing. I loved that there wasn’t an overwhelming taste of gingerbread in these fortune cookies but just the right amount of it for even the less loving of gingerbread flavor to enjoy. This cookie weights in at 1lb … yes that’s right, and is 7″ wide and 5″ tall.  Now maybe gingerbread just isn’t the right flavor for you, well they have other holiday flavors as well.

 This beautiful cookie to your left is called the Holiday Cheer Giant Fortune Cookie and how pretty does this look? This cookie is dipped in milk chocolate and covered in Christmas colored sprinkles. How pretty does this look? This would make a great gift for anyone that’s been nice on your holiday list this year! (Hey Santa isn’t the only one keeping a naughty and nice list is he?)

Or maybe Christmas isn’t your kinda holiday. they also offer Hanukkah Giant Fortune Cookies and these are … you guessed it, beautiful. I think the colors on this cookie just pop off of it for some reason. Maybe it’s the baby blue sprinkles that are placed on top of the dipped milk chocolate. Maybe it’s that going against the color of the cookie. I don’t know but I would love to get this any day of Hanukkah, shoot I’d love to get this just because lol! As always this gift comes wrapped in French-style cellophane and placed inside a pretty white box ready to be given out.

Now maybe you just don’t want to send a holiday themed cookie. I’m sure you’re stumped on what other ones would be great gifts. Well I can tell you they all would be but some of my favorites that I’ve been drooling over would have to be the Gourmet Hazelnut Giant Fortune Cookie dipped in milk chocolate and carefully rolled in fresh chopped hazelnuts. I am a huge hazelnut fan and I can just imagine how yummy this one is. Or maybe you are wanting to try something different. Then why not try the Romantic Assorted Chocolate Cherry-Bomb Fortune Cookies? These cookies come in a really beautiful tin and are cherry flavored fortune cookies that are dipped in an assortment of Milk-chocolate, dark-chocolate and white-chocolate and rolled in cute hand-crafted red heart sprinkles. How yummy does that sound? These would make the perfect gift for Valentine’s day or any day you want to show someone you really do love them!
