Danny Phantom Season One

31 Oct

If there is one thing we love to do as a family, it’s watch our favorite Nickelodeon cartoons and now that it’s Halloween, I was super excited to receive the Danny Phantom: Season One dvd from Shout Factory. I was super excited for this because I knew O would love this. The show originally ran from 2004-2007 and O was too little to know what was going on or care at that point. But now that he’s almost 7 it’s clear that this is definitely something he loves to watch. I loved the cudding up .. even if it only lasted a couple minutes lol. Now if you’ve never heard of Danny Phantom before here is a little bit about the show:

Danny Phantom stars Danny Fenton is a 14-year-old boy who is unpopular but an over all good-natured boy who attends Casper High School in his small hometown. Danny lives at home with his strange ghost hunting parents Jack and Maddie, and his overbearing 16-year-old sister Jasmine. One day while exploring his parents’ Ghost Portal, Danny accidentally turns himself into a half ghost boy which launches a series of memorable adventures for him and his best friends Samantha and Tucker.

I love this show because it’s something my nieces can watch with O and I don’t have to worry about it being “too” scary for them. When I asked O what he liked best he said ” I like when Danny battles the ghosts and that his parents don’t recognize him when he’s a ghost. They are so silly!” I love watching him giggle at all the funny parts and hearing him talk about how silly some of the ghosts are. His favorite is the lunch room ghost. This is definitely something we’re excited to have in our collection and can enjoy many more moments of family fun together!

Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombies Oh my!

29 Oct

You may remember this ever adorable Sunday Citar post where O is cuddling a scary, yet adorable looking Zombie doll. What I didn’t do was introduce you to our newest family member. His name is Dead Ted and lets give him a big welcome! Welcome Dead Ted!  He decided to come stay with us after realizing he needed a change from his home in the Stuffless factory. Which if you visit their site gives you some interesting background information on Dead Ted so we can all get to know him better.

Dead Ted is a very detailed zombie plush. He has been measured at 18.5″ tall and has some very interesting features. For example his eye is “popped out”, He’s having trouble keeping his pants on, and his exposed brain gives you a realistic feel which is creepy AND cool at the same time. I also asked Dead Ted if it was okay to share his Ogden Hospital Patient Chart that Stuffless keeps on hand on their website. Dead Ted‘s real name is Theodore Dewitt and he was admitted to the Ogden Hospital Patient Chart on August 24th, 2016 at 4:33pm. After looking at his ‘record’ we were surprised to find out Dead Ted was a lawyer that specialized in accident compensation cases. He really excelled in the the Human secretion-related slip and fall accidents. Sadly he was a single man with no emergency contacts that lives by himself. Now here is the extremely interesting part, his medical condition and prognosis. I borrowed this quote from the Stuffless website:

Condition: Patient admitted after receiving a bite from a homeless man he was attempting to give money to. Wound resembles those of snake bites with swelling, discoloration, and some gross leakage never seen before. Patient exhibits weakness, stiffening of muscles to point of limping, and vomiting, although no loss of appetite has appeared so it just keeps coming. There also appears to be some delirium, as the patient will occasionally have an involuntarily outburst of “Brains!” then return to the present interaction without realizing what has happened.
Prognosis: Though wound seems deep, patient has been prescribed antibiotics and painkillers and been given full cleaning and care instructions. Healing should be complete within 5-7 days.

If you couldn’t tell he’s been a great fit for our family. He hasn’t left O’s side since we received his knock on our door. O makes sure he has his own pillow and stays covered up too. Mama loves all the sturdy details on him. For example O was very scared he’d pull his eye off if he slept with him but after careful examination we’ve realized that’s just not going to happen and he’s been glued to O’s side ever since. I really love that Stuffless offers not only Dead Ted the Zombie but Wolfman Puck Werewolf, and Bram Poke-her Vampire. So if your little monsters are as into those creatures like O is, these are SURE to be a hit.

Kidzworld Makes Social Networking Safe

28 Sep

There is no denying that in today’s world we are socialnetwork addicted. There are so many places we can check in, or share on ourfriends’ wall and everything fromcough meds to in power tools have a page to like.Where do you draw the line? Do you monitor their page heavily and hope for thebest? What if there was a social network for kids? Well that’s exactly howKidzworld was created. Kidzworld was established in July of 2001 by Allen Achilles, who noticed a there were no social networking sites for kids that allowed thekids to be safe and secure. Kidzworld is the perfect place for kids to expresstheir individualism in forms of moderated chat rooms and message boards. Plusthey can keep up with their favorite tv shows like GLEE and 90210 andeven know what their favorite stars are doing. There are also games, videos, music, get advice and even find homework help.

Creativelydad, O, and myself sat down to look over the Kidzworld site and we all agreed this is a great site to get kids started on how to interact with their friends safely on social network sites. O is about 2 years younger than the targeted age grouphe really loved looking at the site and thinks it’s going to be a lot of fun. What I love is that everything the kids do in regards to interacting with each otheris heavily monitored so there is no way personal information can get exchanged.I love this because now I can let O interact with his friends and Creativelydadand I feel comfortable being able to walk into the other room without worryingsomething bad will happen.  Also otherthan the chat feature O really loves that he can play games on the site. Healso loved that they offer giveaways for the kids. He was pretty excited to seea Scooby-Doo giveaway on there. So all in all I think this is a great site tolet the kids have a little freedom without allowing them the chance to allowbad things to happen. We’re a social network world now and Kidzworld is a greattool to use on how to be safe on the internet, and there is no better time thannow to show them how to use social network sites and the internet safely.

Captain America Saves Halloween!

20 Sep

What’s that over there? Is it a rock? No! Is it a statue? No! It’s Captain America! He’s here to save Halloween by letting you know of the one online store that offers you amazing Halloween costumes at amazing prices! I’m sure you’re wondering where you can find top Halloween costumes for boys and girls, and that place is Wholesale Costume Club! O’s second Halloween he was Superman and 2 years ago he was Batman. It only seemed fitting that this year he’d be Captain America not only because he, much like he nerdy comic book and video game loving mother, loves all things super heroes but also because ever since my brother left for boot camp O has been obsessed with all things army related. In fact he wanted to be an Army Zombie until he saw this costume. Zombies are ever awesome but how can they compare to a super solider? You just can. When I asked O about what he thought of his costume he was quoted to say “It’s very awesome. I love the muscles. Now I just need a shield. You know the one that shoots.” … sorry kid I’ve seen them with OUT the shooter part and I don’t need little discs flying all over the place. Though who really knows because Creativelydad was looking at the shooting disc one today and I think he likes it more than O does.

This Captain America costume is a two piece outfit that comes with the jumpsuit that has attached boot toppers and of course the costume details screen printed on. This also includes the character mask which has the symbolic A on the front. It does NOT include the shield. I ordered this costume in a size medium which fits most sizes 7-8. I thought this jumpsuit part of the costume was well made. I’m normally against the added muscles to a costume because it just doesn’t look right, but for this costume I love it. They aren’t over the top muscles, they are just right. My only concern would be the mask. I don’t know if you can see in the photos, but it doesn’t fit him very well. For the most part it looks to allow him to see clearly out of it but it’s after a little tugging to get it in the right spot.

All in all we loved this costume and O is over the moon happy about it. What more could I ask for? Reasonable prices, a wide selection of not only boys super hero costumes, but costumes that every member of the family can find something to wear, and a quality that can’t be matched anywhere else!

What are your kids being for Halloween? Are you dressing up with them and making it a family event?

Reading Kingdom Review

25 Aug

I’ve got one of those smart kids that can figure out almost anything technology based quicker than I can probably. He is 6 and already can figure out how to change the HDMI channels on the tv and get it right to the PS3. Also pretty smart with the computer too though he does the one pet peeve I have with that …. typing one. letter. at. a. time. It drives me batty. Also sadly my son is anti-reading now and I just can’t get him interested in reading. He says it’s too hard (we tried easy reader books). That’s why I was pretty excited when I received the chance to review The Reading Kingdom‘s phonics program. If you’ve never heard of The Reading Kingdom here is a little info taken from their website:

The Reading Kingdom is a site for children to learn to read and for adults looking to make sure the children in their lives have the best opportunities in life. It’s fun, easy-to-use and best of all, kids can do most of the program on their own with minimal adult supervision. Our online reading program is based on a system developed by a world-renowned expert on reading that has helped children to learn to read for over forty years. It’s the only system that customizes itself to your child. Thousands of children, parents, and educatorstestify to the success of the program.

I just have to say I really love this program. I have noticed it’s really helped O not only with his keyboard skills, but is helping in addition to the reading lessons we’re doing at home. The Reading Kingdom offers a unique benefit to their program as well, the program customizes itself to your child’s needs and doesn’t interfere with any curriculum at school/home that your child may be working on. The Reading Kingdom teaches your child the 6 skills need for success in reading and writing. It offers easy to follow instructions and can hold my son’s interest for more than 5 minutes. Plus it’s so easy to use I can feel comfortable leaving O to do his lessons while I’m doing my housewife duties. I fully believe he loves it so much because it is easy to do on his own which allows him to do these lessons when he pleases.  My favorite part is that it offers you 2 different ways to receive updates on your child’s progress. You can view the progress after your child finishes their lessons, as well as get a detailed report emailed to you instantly when they are finished. I really like this because I can look it over and than discuss with O how he’s doing.

The Reading Kingdom offers everyone who signs up a free 30 day trial and after that it is either 19.99 a month or 199 a year which is such a great deal. If you are on a budget but really want this for their son. Well have no fear they offer you the chance to apply for a scholarship for your child. Just check the  Another way they offer you more bang for your buck is that you can purchase books through their store for added benefits. O loves this and we can’t wait to get him a couple. In the end O gives this program 2 big thumbs up and check out Creativelyb’s facebook page this weekend for a video of how he feels about this program. Want to keep up to date with The Reading Kindom? Then don’t forget to fan their Facebook page and Like their Twitter. Make sure to tell them Creativelyb sent you!
